FREMONT— Though it was an abbreviated meet from the one that was postponed from Saturday, Fremont Ross produced team championships and individual Champions.
Seniors Will Kiser and Evelyn Szymanowski led the packs. Kiser had a person best on the Walsh Park course finishing in 17:28.72 and led the charge as the boys’ team won the Invitational with 35 points. Toledo St. John’s was second with 45 points, Oregon Clay was third with 59 points and Findlay was fourth with 79 points. Following Kiser was a sixth-place finish by “Boogie” Sanchez 19:27.06 and a ninth-place finish for Aidan Weber in 19:59.21. Weber is a transfer in from Port Clinton. The rest of the field was Jaheim Stratton (11th, 20:11.64), Andrew Tooman (16th, 20:36.50), Eliot Haitonic (26th, 21:46.48); Collin Rich (31st, 22:31.29); Jerrell Sims (32nd, 22:32.00); Dane Denman (35th, 22:45.02); Logan Gibson (41st, 24:36.39); Evan Beardmore (44th, 23:42.64).
The girls followed with Fremont Ross having equally a successful race as the boys’ team. The Lady Giants literally and figuratively ran away with the team win with 21 points. Oak Harbor was second with 65 points, Toledo Christian was third with 76 points, Oregon Clay was fourth with 80 points and Findlay was fifth with 124 points.
Szymanowski, nursing a nagging foot/angle injury that has plagued her for
over a year now, looked to be in great shape now as the senior ran the 3.2-mile course in 21:56.76. Freshman Sophia Metcalf was a surprising second place finisher in 22:23.40. Kennedy Walker was fourth in 23:15.71; Kenna Tooman (5th, 23:39.17); Malaya Hughes (9th, 24:20.20); Mariah Ramirez (13th, 25:16.87); Jaiden Long (14th, 25:20.98); Ella Lozano (16th, 25:34.41); Kylie Peck (24th, 28:52.10); Ariana Hinojosa-Williams (25th, 28:54.23); Miley Sheidler (33rd, 31:48.57); Sofia Sanchez (39th, 36:45.11).
