FREMONT – On a night more reminiscent of summertime, the Fremont Ross Lady Giants soccer team gained their seventh win with a 6-2 non-league win over Tiffin Columbian.

The scoring started at the 35:48 when Paige Drusback, playing her aggressive brand of soccer, found the net to put Ross up 1-0. Jadyn Rozelle followed with a breakaway goal at the 27:29 as Ross built a 2-0 lead.  At the 24:26 mark, McKenzie Davis got Tiffin on the board.  Drusback was up to her old tricks again.  At the 13:14 Drusback took the assist from Sami Schratt and nailed her second goal as she slid into the net after the ball giving Ross a 3-1 lead. Drusback was not done there, with 10:19 remaining in the half she rebounded in her third goal of the game to expand Fremont’s lead to 4-1.

The scoring continued in the second half as Ross added two more goals and Tiffin one.  Cammie Gonzales found the net as she dribbled from almost half court and took it the distance for her goal. Gonzales’ goal happened at the 32:00 mark of the second half giving Ross a 5-1 lead. Freshman Maylin DeWalt got her name in the scorebook when she found the net at the 22:22 giving Ross the 6-1 advantage. McKenzie Hoffman scored Tiffin’s final goal at the 20:16 as Ross prevailed.

The Lady Little Giants are currently 7-9 on the season and will complete their season Wednesday in a home match with Oregon Clay.  From there, it will be sectional tournament time as the 13th seeded Giants will travel to Sylvania to take on 3rd seeded Northview in a sectional semifinal game.
