TOLEDO – Toledo Central Catholic (3-5-1) used four goals in the first half and six more in the second to defeat Fremont Ross (3-7) in a TRAC contest during a soaking rain Wednesday evening.
So dominate was the Lady Irish’s performance that Ross only had chances for two scores during the contest, with both happening in the first half of play. Jaydyn Rozzell had two different breakaways in the first half. The first goal chance never developed as the wind along with the wet ball threw her timing off. Her second attempt also failed to develop properly. After that, and all through the second half, it was all Toledo Central Catholic. Fremont had no shots on goal during the second 40 minutes of play. The Lady Irish’s Mya Patton and Mya Vernon stole the show and Ross had no answer for their offensive abilities.
Patton’ first goal came at the 28:07 of the first half. Vernon followed a few minutes later for her first goal. Patton scored the next two goals for the Lady Irish before time ran out in the first half.
In the second half, just 21 seconds in, Claire Whipple found the net. At the 36:10 mark it was Patton again finding the range. With that goal it was a running clock for the rest of the contest because of the six-goal advantage that the Lady Irish enjoyed. Vernon added to the score with 18:20 remaining in the contest. Patton added yet another goal, her fifth, at the 14:10 mark as the score grew to 8-0. Vernon, appearing to keep up with Patton, found the net for her third goal to make the score 9-0 with 10:17 remaining. Patton added the 10th and final goal with 8:00 remaining to end the scoring and a disappointing loss for the Little Giants.
