FREMONT – The Ross swim teams hosts their final duel matches of the season Tuesday evening with the results looking very much all those that have come before.
The Swimming Giants ended their seasons perfect in duel meet competition, both with 9-0 records after wins over Port Clinton and Margaretta. The Ross boys defeated Port Clinton 128-52 and Margaretta by a score of 136-40. The Lady Giants topped the Redskins 125-61 and the Polar Bears 139-47.
The boys team had a host of swimmers set personal records Tuesday, in addition to winning first place in nine of the 12 events.
The Little Giant foursome of Dylan Weisenauer, Andrew Evans, Tate Williams and William Taylor combined to win both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays with times of 1:41.61 and 1:32.71, respectively. Weisenauer (200 freestyle), Evans (100 backstroke) and Williams (100 butterfly) also took first-place finishes individual as well.
Case Stevenson (200 IM), Ethan Taylor (500 freestyle), and Austin Kramer (100 breaststroke) also came away with individual wins while the 400 relay team of William Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Stevenson Evans also came away victorious.
In addition to the first-place finishes, the Little Giants had a slew of personal-best performances including those by Noah Hotz (200 IM, 2:22.46); Charlie Corthall (100 fly, 1:07.88); Oliver Ellis (50 free, 27.88; and 100 free, 1:03.92); Case Stevenson (500 free, 5:24.94); Zach Edmonds (100 free, 1:00.23); Drew Edmonds (100 breast, 1:06.87); Evan Starkweather (50 free, 27.86; and 100 free ); and Zach McNutt (50 free, 29.11).
The girls team also had another dominating performance, taking first-place in all but two events.
MaKennah Fitzgerald and Olivia DeRodes led the way for the Lady Giants as both won a pair of events in addition to swimming legs on a pair of relay victories as well.
Fitzgerald won the 100 backstroke as well as the 200 freestyle while DeRodes took first in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Then they, along with Alexis Prenzlin and AnneMarie Moses won the 200 and 400 relays.
Prenzlin and Moses had success individually as well, as Moses won the 200 IM and Prenzlin the 100 butterfly, and also joined Faith Zimmerman and Mara Brown to win the 200 medley relay.
Lauren Zimmerman also won the 100 breaststroke.
