OREGON – Despite the hot conditions Saturday, the Fremont Ross boys cross country team had a cool performance at the Cardinal Stritch Invitational.

The Little Giants finished second out of 11 teams in the Division I and II race, totaling 86 points.

As usual, Ross was led by Matt Kuyken and Ethan McClory. Kuyken finished fourth overall with a time of 16:34 while McClory came in sixth in a time of 16:57.

Keaton Jordan finished 15th in 17:37 while Zach Edmonds ran in 18:08 for 25th. Evan Starkweather rounded out Ross’ scoring with a 38th-place finish in a time of 19:02.

In the girls’ race, the Lady Giants finished seventh with 144 points.

McKela Elder finished sixth overall in a time of 21:27. Mara Brown was 29th in 24:33 followed shortly by Lauren Zimmerman, 31st, at 24:42. Kayla Glotzbecker was 39th in 25:14 while Bryanna Schermerhor was 43rd in 26:07.

The cross country teams are back in action next Saturday morning at the Old Fort Invitational.
