TOLEDO – The Fremont Ross volleyball team took strides in its first season under coach Lindi Cahill.

While the future is bright, the Lady Giants’ present came to a close Wednesday night in a straight-set loss to Whitmer in tournament play, falling by scores of 9-25, 12-25, 16-25.

“We had some great moments this year,” Cahill said. “We’re still learning what it means to compete hard every night and every point, but it’s going to get better.”

The Lady Giants end the season at 7-16 overall.

The loss also marks the end for the team’s two seniors, Hayley Lawrence and Izzy Held. While the senior starters certainly leave voids to be filled, Cahill is optimistic about what the future will hold for the Lady Giants.

“We have a lot of first- and second-year letter-winners who played a ton of points and made big strides as volleyball players,” Cahill said. “We also have some young athletes coming up in the program who will work hard and make big contributions on the court and to our program’s culture. We have a lot to look forward to.”
