After a six-day break from competition, the Fremont Ross volleyball team showed little sign of rust Thursday night. The Lady Giants returned to the court and handled Springfield with ease, winning in straight sets, 25-7, 25-7, 25-17.
The victory improves Ross to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in Northern Lakes League play. Head coach Erin Dircksen liked the way her team responded after the layoff.
“It was great to see them compete after being off for six days,” Dircksen said. “They are trying new things and doing a great job of taking what we apply in practice and executing at the game.”
Fremont Ross put together a balanced effort in the win. Kilee Kidd led the attack with eight kills, while Bre Biller was dominant from the service line, recording seven aces. Setter Ryla Smith kept the offense in rhythm, finishing with 27 assists.
The Lady Giants now turn their attention to next week’s matchups against the two Sylvania schools. Ross will face Southview on Tuesday and Northview on Thursday.
