It’s been a whirlwind week for the Fremont Ross boys tennis team, but the Little Giants have risen to the occasion — racking up three wins in three consecutive days to extend their win streak to eight and improve to 12-2 on the season.
The action began on Monday with a solid 4-1 victory over Maumee. Building on that momentum, the team turned in a dominant performance Tuesday, sweeping NLL foe Springfield 5-0.
But it was Wednesday night’s road match in Oregon against a tough Clay team that truly tested the team’s resolve. In a gritty battle, Fremont Ross pulled through with a hard-fought win to cap off their third victory in as many days.
Standout performances included:
-
#1 Singles: Cole Kinsey showed resilience and poise, grinding out a 7-6 (2), 6-4 win.
-
#3 Singles: Carson Lewis outlasted his opponent in a three-set thriller, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
-
#1 Doubles: The duo of Zach Bishop and Charlie Kramer stayed locked in, cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Coach Wolfe praised the squad for their grit and teamwork, saying, “The team effort won against a very tough Clay team.”
Despite the packed schedule, the Little Giants aren’t done yet. They hit the road again this evening to face Perrysburg, travel to Southview on Friday, and will wrap up their demanding week by hosting the annual Little Giant Doubles Invitational this weekend.
With their confidence growing and momentum building, Fremont Ross tennis is making a strong case as one of the area’s top programs this spring.Tennis Rolls Through Busy Week with Trio of Wins, Extends Streak to Eight
