The Fremont Ross Lady Giants wrestling team opened their 2024-2025 campaign in dominant fashion this past Sunday, securing a first-place team finish and showcasing their depth and talent across multiple weight classes.

Three Lady Giants wrestlers stood atop the podium as champions:

  • Malaya Hughes (100 lbs): Demonstrating incredible skill and determination, Hughes controlled her matches from start to finish.
  • Nayeli Vasquez (125 lbs): With a combination of power and technique, Vasquez powered her way to the top spot.
  • Keyonna Vann (190 lbs): Vann’s strength and strategic approach earned her the championship in her weight class.

Adding to the team’s success, Kailani Long earned a hard-fought second-place finish at 105 lbs. Meanwhile, Jaide Long (115 lbs), Zoe Kaczmarek (120 lbs), and Brooklyn Koebel (130 lbs) rounded out the podium with impressive third-place finishes, contributing critical points to the team total.

The Lady Giants displayed not only individual excellence but also a collective team effort, setting a high standard for the rest of the season.

Next up, the Lady Giants will take a short trip east to compete in the Flier Invite at Clyde High School next Sunday. With momentum on their side, the team is poised for another standout performance.
