Boy’s Soccer Kicks Off Friday Night

            Coach Alex Coressel job for 2023 includes replacing a large and talented senior class from 2022.

            “We lost 2 time conference keeper of the year in Logan Baacke and 3 year starters in Victor Martinez, Connor Growel, and Frankie Navarro, Coressel explained.  “We also lost the goal scoring threat in Carter Rodriguez. We look to replace the large losses with 11 incoming freshmen.”

             The 2023 edition of the Little Giant’s will feature an extremely young squad with only two seniors . 21 of the 27 players will consist of either freshmen or sophomores.

            “With a team this young replacing offensive production will be a work in progress,” Coressel said.

            The Junior class returns the most experience on the field. This includes Jr. Cole Kinsey who will be called upon in net. Jr. Bryce Estep and So. Gabe Wensinger will anchor the defense.”  This will be a major task as the offense will be working to gel and the season goes on.

            Sophomore Logan Tucker, Freshmen Carson Lewis, and Freshmen Alberto Martinez are expected to make large contributions and fill some of the holes.

            “There is great opportunity for the team who has a bunch of potential, Coressel continued. “We will be able to hang with many teams and we will have to get some timely scoring in order to reach our win expectations.”

            The Little Giants will be competing in the Northern Lakes League for the first time in 2023.

            “In the new league we will be able to compete with most, but the question will be how quickly the young guys come along and learn and grow.  Our offense is our biggest question and needs to put the ball in the back of the net for us to have any success. The outlook for the program is bright as long as we can handle the bumps that will surely come with the upcoming season.”
