               TOLEDO – The Ross boys and girls track teams finished the first day of competition at the Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s Track and Field Championships.

            The Lady Giants are tied with third after the first day.  They were helped by Makenna Englund (cover photo) and Lyndi Wolf who finished first and second in the high jump competition. Englund cleared 5’2” while Wolf was successful over 5’.

            After a second and fourth place finish by Ethan Green and Alex Menkoff respectively in the discus competition the Ross boys sit fourth in the standings.  Green tossed the discus 153’ 11” and Menkoff had a throw of 136’.

Englund came back to win her heat of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.86 as she moved onto Friday’s finals in that event.  Jadyn Rozelle qualified for the finals of the 100 meters finishing her heat with a time of 13.05 qualifying her seventh.

            Freshman Jasmin Heidelburg qualified eighth in the 200 meters in 27.59. The talented Heidelburg also made it to the finals in the 400 meters again qualifying eighth with a time of 65.27.

            The girls 4×800 relay, running in their final Wednesday, ran to a fifth-place finish in 10:37.53. Scoring points for Ross were Allison Taylor, Adriane Halbisen, Kylie Peck and Mackenzie Smith.

            Michael Ruiz-Patterson qualified seventh in the 400 meters with at time of 52.70.  James Kemp qualified fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.00. Kemp also qualified seventh in the 100 meters finishing with a time of 11.50.

            The boys 4×800 relay scored five points finishing fourth with a time of 8:34.37.  The foursome competing for Ross included Kameron Walker, Will Kiser, Zachary Glotzbecker and Evan Beardmore.

            Also scoring points in the field events were Easton Silva and Andrew Taylor in the pole vault.  Silva finished fourth with a vault oof 11’6” and Taylor finished in a tie for sixth with a vault of 11’.  Scoring three more points in the field events for the boys in the long jump was Ricky Howard III with a leap of 20’2.5”.

            Competition continues Friday with the field events beginning at 4pm.
