OREGON – The Little Giant wrestlers brought home three weight class championships from this weekend’s Three Rivers Athletic Conference tournament while six other athletes managed to place in the top four of their respective brackets.
As a whole, Ross finished third, compiling 136 points, finishing just two points behind second-place Whitmer, with Oregon Clay taking the team championship with 215.5 points.
Charles Chapman, Deshae Pettiford and Caleb Wood went undefeated this weekend in earning their individual championships.
Chapman won the 132-pound title with an 11-3 major decision over Clay’s Mike Daly. Pettiford followed at 145 pounds with a 15-6 major decision win over Clay’s AJ Szigeti. Wood rounded out the Little Giants’ championships with a victory at 190 pounds with a 13-2 major decision over Clay’s Ty Cobb.
Mike Thomas finished runner-up at 285 pounds and Jackson Weissinger placed second at 160 pounds.
Carter Smith (126) and Keaton Jordan (152) won their final matches to finish third in their weight class while David Boda (113) and Brandon Garcia (182) finished fourth in their brackets.
