Lily Abdoo, girls tennis
Junior tennis player Lily Abdoo had made a fine transition from being a doubles player last year to singles this year. Playing at No. 3 singles, Abdoo has started the season 6-0 and had helped the Lady Giants to a 5-1 record. In addition to her tennis prowess, Abdoo is never lost for words, making her an ideal candidate for Getting to Know…
Favorite class in school?
I like art. I like not needing to really learn anything. Plus, I want to go into fashion for a career, I like being creative, I guess.
Pet peeve?
I work at I Scream Sprinkles and I hate, HATE, when people park so far away from the (drive-thru) window. I’m super short and I have my whole, entire body out the window to hand them their stuff. It’s so frustrating. I’m like, ‘This can’t be your first drive-thru, you can get a little closer!’
If I asked your parents what’s your worst habit, what would they say?
Probably sitting in my room and watching videos, on my computer. I watch a lot of YouTube videos. They’d probably say that. I’m a pretty good child.
You win an all-expenses-paid trip anywhere in the world, where do you go?
Either someplace super-tropical, like Bora Bora, or Paris. They’re very different. Depends on my mood, I guess.
Biggest fear?
Heights. I don’t like heights. Don’t laugh because I’m short, but I’m scared of heights. I don’t want to die by falling.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal?
I feel like laying in bed all day could be my best talent.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Learn to sew. I feel like no one knows how to do that and they should probably learn.
College plans?
If I have to stay in Ohio, I’ll probably go to Kent State because they’re like No. 4 in the country for fashion in the US. But if I can get my Dad to let me leave, I’d like to go to New York. I want to go into fashion design.
