Boys Track and Field head coach: John Elder
John Elder began his coaching career in 1984 as an assistant coach and then took over the cross country program from 1988 until 2001, when he stepped down for family reasons. He returned to the coaching ranks in 2011.
Elder is in his first year as a retiree, having taught high school social studies at Ross, but has no plans of stepping away from coaching anytime in the near future.
“I don’t want to give up coaching because we’re having fun and I like the people I work with,” Elder said. “I’d like to see one of these teams make it to state. The boys made it in ‘94 and the girls made it to state in 96, or 97. I’d like to return somebody to state.”
