SYLVANIA – The Fremont Ross Lady Giants closed out their 2025 softball campaign with grit and determination Tuesday night in a season-ending doubleheader at Sylvania Northview. Taking on two tough opponents in Napoleon and Northview, the Lady Giants showed flashes of their potential but ultimately came up short in both contests.
Game 1: Napoleon 3, Fremont Ross 1

In the opener, Fremont squared off against Napoleon in a game dominated by pitching and defense. Despite outhitting the Wildcats 7-3, the Lady Giants couldn’t capitalize on key opportunities and fell 3-1.

Senior Sara Gross led the Fremont offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate, while Bristol Howey provided the team’s lone RBI. On the mound, freshman right-hander Brooklyn Berndt was outstanding, tossing a complete game. Berndt allowed just three hits, struck out six, and didn’t allow an earned run — a strong performance that kept the Giants in the game until the final out.

Game 2: Sylvania Northview 4, Fremont Ross 2
In the nightcap, Fremont took on host Northview and put together one of their cleanest defensive performances of the season, committing just one error. Howey got the start in the circle and went four solid innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. Berndt returned in relief, pitching the final three innings and giving up two earned runs.

Offensively, the Lady Giants struggled to get going, managing just three baserunners all game. Berndt provided an offensive pop in the middle of the line-up, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double. Unfortunately, this was not enough, as the Lady Giants fell 4-2 to close the night.

Season Wrap-Up
With the pair of losses, Fremont Ross concludes its 2025 season with a record of 12-15. While the results didn’t fall their way on Tuesday, the Lady Giants showcased their resilience and continued growth throughout the season.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to this year’s seniors for their leadership and dedication to the program: Alex Brake, Sara Gross, Kenna Tooman, Karsen Rau, Addison Schoch, and Alivia Weisenauer. Your contributions on and off the field will leave a lasting legacy for future Lady Giants.

Here’s to a season filled with effort, learning, and pride — and to a bright future for Fremont Ross softball.
