The storyline heading into the district semifinal matchup between Fremont Ross and top-seeded Central Catholic had all the makings of a classic David vs. Goliath battle. However, the Little Giants were not intimidated and fought valiantly in the first quarter, keeping the Irish within reach.

Fremont Ross showed resilience early, playing tough defense and executing their game plan to slow down the high-powered Central Catholic offense. But as the game progressed, the Irish showcased why they were the No. 1 seed. Utilizing their transition game effectively, they began to score with ease, finding open lanes and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities.

By halftime, the Little Giants found themselves facing their largest deficit of the season, trailing 46-22. Despite the uphill battle, Fremont Ross came out in the third quarter with determination, refusing to back down. They continued to play hard, showing grit and heart, but Central Catholic’s relentless scoring attack proved too much to handle. As Ross’ shooting cooled off, the Irish maintained their efficiency, extending their lead to 63-34 by the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern, with Fremont Ross battling until the final whistle but ultimately unable to close the gap. The Little Giants fell to Central Catholic 76-41, bringing an end to their remarkable season.

Despite the loss, Fremont Ross’ season was filled with memorable moments and impressive performances. The seniors—Michael Stover, Dontrell Heard, Dekentre Hardin, Dakiyus Webb, and Maki Lee—left a lasting impact on the program, demonstrating leadership and resilience throughout the season.

While the scoreboard did not reflect their effort, the Little Giants displayed the heart and determination that defined their season, earning the respect of fans and opponents alike.
