The Fremont Ross boys wrestling team showcased their determination and grit on Saturday at the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, earning 10 district qualifiers and two alternates. The Little Giants put forth a strong performance, battling through a tough field to earn their spots at the next level of competition.

Leading the way was senior Broderick Barth, who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed but dominated his bracket, securing the sectional championship in impressive fashion. Barth capped off his run with a decisive pin in the finals, proving that seeding is just a number when it comes to heart and effort on the mat.

Fremont Ross also had several other wrestlers make deep runs in their respective weight classes:

  • Bryce Estep2nd place
  • Aidan Autullo, Alex Vasquez, Anthony Salazar, Taeden Brown, Zeb Zucker3rd place finishers
  • Cooper Hetrick, Lincoln Ollom, Collin Ollom4th place finishers

In addition, Logan Wensinger and Nate Craig placed 5th and will serve as alternates for the district tournament.

With 10 wrestlers moving on, the Little Giants will now set their sights on the District Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Perrysburg. The stakes are high, as the top four finishers in each weight class will earn a coveted spot at the State Tournament next weekend in Columbus.
