This past weekend, the Fremont Ross Swim and Dive team made a strong showing at the Northwest Ohio Aquatic Championships, with the boys’ team securing a runner-up finish behind Oak Harbor and the girls placing fourth overall.
Boys Team Highlights
LJ Gabel had an outstanding performance in the 200-yard individual medley (IM), securing a third-place finish with a time of 2:12. Robert Rich delivered a dominant performance in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 22.63 to take first place. He also added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.24.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Logan Garza and LJ Gabel claimed fourth and fifth place, respectively. The boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay team—composed of Logan Garza, Lucas Garza, Parker Brown, and Robert Rich—posted a strong time of 1:34. Logan Garza capped off the meet with a stellar victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall first in 1:03.
Girls Team Highlights
On the girls’ side, Kayla Lewis impressed in the 200-yard IM, securing third place with a time of 2:30. She later added a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16. Freshman Lillian Weakley contributed valuable points with a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 26.96.
Aubrey Pfotenhauer had a strong swim in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing third overall with a time of 1:08. Elayna Gray also delivered a solid effort in the 100-yard freestyle, placing fifth with a time of 1:01. The girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay team—featuring Brenah Paker, Kayla Lewis, Elayna Gray, and Lillian Weakley—earned a runner-up finish with a time of 1:49. Rounding out the top finishes, Layla Mendoza placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.
With strong performances across the board, the Little Giants demonstrated their talent and determination, setting the stage for a competitive finish to the season.
