The Little Giant wrestling team travelled to Hopewell Loudon Saturday as they took part in a five team invite. Ross did not compete with a full squad.
Ava Thomas wrestled in the 106 lbs weight class, Bryce Estep (113 lbs.), Brandon Hottinger and Gage Ross (120 lbs), Owen Shanahan (126 lbs), Brody Barth (157 lbs), Rhien Hottinger (175 lbs.), Dean Hetrick (190 lbs.) (shown in picture above), Mason Villarreal (215 lbs.) and Gabe Elder (285 lbs.).
The teams competing in the tournament were host, Hopewell Loudon, Gibsonburg, Port Clinton, Margaretta, and Fremont Ross.
The Little Giants overall had a very good showing. Starting with Thomas at 106, his record for the tourney was 2-2, Estep dominated in the 113 lbs class finishing a perfect 4-0. Brandon Hottinger and Gage Ross wrestled at 120 lbs. Hottinger was 1-0 while Ross was a perfect 4-0. Shanahan at 126lbs finished 3-1. A trio of wrestlers, Barth at 157 lbs, Rhien Hottinger at (175 lbs.) and Dean Hetrick wrestling 190 lbs. all finished unbeaten at 4-0. Mason Villarreal at 215 lbs. was 3-1 and heavyweights Gabe Elder finished 3-1.
The Little Giants are now off until December 22 when they are scheduled to welcome Bellevue to the “Purple Pit”. `
