FREMONT – On yet another sultry morning in Northwest Ohio, Fremont Ross held their yearly “Norm Bray” invitational for the 29th straight year.

In the boy’s race, Bowling Green captured the championship with 89 points. Eric Board of Maumee nosed out Tyler Sakowski of Toledo Whitmer to win the boys individual championship. Board’s time was 16:47.9 with Sakowski given the same time.

Fremont Ross boys finished 10th with 243 points. Fremont’s top finisher was sophomore Will Kiser who completed the course in 12th place in a time of 17:39.3. “It was really fun,” Kiser began talking about his race. “It was a lot cooler than we are used to which helped a lot. Like always, the hills at Walsh Park are super hard. But overall, I was pleased with the way I finished.”

Following the boy’s race, the girls took to the course. With temperatures rising, the girls struggled a bit more than the boys.  Eastwood won the team title with 66 points beating Findlay by five points.  Lucy Porter of Maumee was the individual champion with a time of 20:02.  Fremont Ross’ girls ran to a 7th place finish with 187 points. Finishing second individually was Fremont’s sophomore Evelyn Szymanowski.   Szymanowski came across the line in 20:49.6. “It wasn’t too great, Szymanowski said. “But it was the first meet, so I really didn’t know what to expect.”  Szymanowski, a sophomore has lofty golds for her fall season. “I would like to get in the 19s (minutes) and hopefully make it all the way to state.” Fremont next run will be at BGSU as they take part in the Mel Brodt Invitational.  For all the results please follow the link below. http://live.finishtiming.com/meets/438261/events
