TOLEDO – The Fremont Ross boys tennis team picked up a hard-fought victory Tuesday over Toledo Central Catholic.

The Little Giants took a 3-2 win from the Fighting Irish thanks to a pair of dominant doubles team performances as well as a terrific effort from Kurt Harrison at No. 3 singles.
Drew Miller/Isaac Minor as well as Evan Oglesbee/Frankie Scott, won their respective matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 6-0, 6-1.
With Ross’ No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches both falling short, the match came down to Harrison at No. 3 singles. After beginning the match with a 4-6 first-set loss, Harrison rebounded to win the next two sets 7-5 and 6-4 to give the Little Giants the win.
“Kurt Harrison was definitely the hero in this match at third singles,” Ross coach Lisa Wolfe said. “He worked hard at adjusting his game and working on the opponent’s weaknesses.”
Ross also wrapped up some unfinished business Tuesday as well. St. Francis sent its No. 2 doubles team to Central Catholic so it could finish its match against Oglesbee and Scott which was stopped last Thursday due to weather.
The Little Giants and Knights were tied in the match 2-2, thanks to victories from Harrison at No. 3 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Lucas Cronin and Ethan Moyer.
The No. 2 doubles match resumed at the start of the third set, with Ross and St. Francis both having won a set by a 6-4 score. St. Francis’ Joey Miller and Luke Johnson got the better of Oglesbee and Scott Tuesday, winning the set by a 6-3 score to give the Knights the match victory.
Ross’ record now stands at 9-6 overall with a 3-4 mark in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
The Little Giants are back in action Thursday at Rossford at 4:30.
