TOLEDO – On the eve of the TRAC tennis tournament, the Little Giants made sure to close out the league’s regular season schedule on a high note.
Ross went to Whitmer and swept the Panthers, 5-0, strengthening all five flights’ case for high seeds at this weekend’s league tournament.
Nils Nolte, Alex Thatcher and Drew Miller all won their singles matches in straight sets, losing no more than two games in any set.
Likewise, the doubles teams of Trevor Weickert/Sam Long and Lucas Cronin/Ethan Moyer combined to lose just three games in their four sets.
The Little Giants’ record improved to 14-3 overall and close out the TRAC season at 4-3.
The two-day league tournament gets underway Friday morning at 9 at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee.
In the tournament, Nolte (4-3 TRAC record) will be seeded No. 4 at No. 1 singles. Thatcher, also 4-3, will be seeded fourth in his bracket as well, at No. 2 singles.
Drew Miller (4-2) earned a No. 3 seed at No. 3 singles.
Weickert/Long enter the No. 1 doubles bracket with a 4-2 record and a No. 3 seed.
Cornin/Moyer, however, thanks to an undefeated 6-0 record, enter as the favorites at No. 2 doubles, carry the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
The first two rounds of the TRAC tournament will be played Friday with the championship matches played Saturday.
