FOSTORIA – The Little Giant tennis team is at the start of a busy two-week stretch and was in no mood to waste time Monday.

Trevor Weickert
Fremont Ross needed less than an hour to overwhelm Fostoria, winning all but one game in a 5-0 sweep of the Redmen.
Singles players Alex Thatcher, Lucas Cronin and Trevor Weickert and the No. 2 doubles team of Ethan Moyer and Drew Miller all won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Sam Long and Nils Nolte combined to won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-1.
While the Little Giants won easily, coach Lisa Wolfe was pleased by her team’s unselfishness as players happily played elsewhere than their preferred flights so she can experiment with lineups and doubles pairs.
“They’re very talented doubles players and they’re very talented singles players,” Wolfe said. “The majority of them find their comfort zone at doubles, or that’s where they want to play, like Lucas and Trevor, who did not want to play singles this year, agreed to play singles because I needed to see Sam and Nils play together and I like Ethan and Drew together, and I wanted to see that one more time.”
Even moreso than their dominant victories (3-0 overall, 0-1 TRAC), Wolfe has been pleased by how the Little Giants have conducted themselves on the court thus far this season.
“I tell my players, we want to be the team everyone wants to play, not the ones we dread playing – everyone has those teams,” Wolfe said.
“We’ve played four matches and so far each opposing coach has texted after the match and told me what a nice team I have. They are a positive representation for Fremont Ross. (It) makes me very proud to be their coach.”
