SANDUSKY – Though it won’t go down as the prettiest of victories, Ross’ girls hoops team pulled out of a slow start Tuesday night to leave Sandusky with a 56-43 victory. Ross held a 27-22 lead at halftime despite nine first-half turnovers and allowing numerous second-chance opportunities to Sandusky on the defensive glass. The third quarter, however, saw the Lady Giants put together their best stretch of the night, going on a 12-0 run to grow their lead to 15 points. The advantage never again dipped below nine points the rest of the night as Ross improved to 9-3 overall on the season.

Brooklyn Baptista led Ross with a game-high 16 points while Olivia Baptista added 12 points with eight rebounds. Ahlia Simms scored 11 points while Jazmin Bulger, despite missing a quarter with a finger injury, finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Rachel Gore, playing an increased role in Bulger’s absence, scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter, including going 5-for-6 at the free throw line, and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Lady Giants return to action Thursday at Whitmer.
