Spencer Batey
The Little Giants boys soccer team has clinched a winning record for the first time in years and senior defender Spencer Batey has been a big part of the reason why. One of the Little Giants’ top defenders, he’s been a valuable piece of the Little Giants’ back end. But he’s been arguably more important for his verbal leadership on the field, encouraging teammates and remaining positive in the face of adversity. Batey and the Little Giants will try to keep their season alive Wednesday in the district tournament at Ashland.
Favorite class in school?
Definitely anatomy and physiology with Ms. Muffler. First off, she’s an amazing teacher and, second off, science has always been kind of my field.
Pet peeve?
Lack of effort from people who say they give the most effort. So hypocrisy, I guess,
If I asked your parents what’s your worst habit, what would they say?
Not listening, Absolutely. I’m very much do-my-own-thing.
You win an all-expenses-paid trip anywhere in the world, where do you go?
England, for sure. I’d love not only see the country side but watch some (British Premier League) games for sure, Manchester United, Arsenal, that sort of thing.
What TV show or movie do you refuse to watch?
Anything sappy. Love movies and stuff like that. I got to have some action. My mind is racing too much do the slow stuff
What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
Rap music. 100 percent. Not my thing. (I listen to) Rock. Metal. Alternative Rock, that sort of thing. If it’s 104.7 or 94.5, we’re good.
Biggest fear?
Not living up to everybody’s standards. Not meeting everybody else’s standards.
What skill would you like to master?
Drifting. When you slide a car around a corner sideways. It’s cool. Car control is everything.
Plans for after graduation?
Work. Work. Work. Work. Work. I want to be a conductor and a state trooper, one of the two. I’m either going to be on trains or be in a car.
