TIFFIN –Sometimes scores can be deceiving.
After a lethargic start Tuesday which cost it a game, one might think the Ross boys soccer team learned its lesson Thursday night. After all, the Little Giants defeated Tiffin Columbian 9-0. Lesson learned, right?

Right?
“We played a very bad first half,” coach Alex Coressel said. “We were still up 4-0 at half, but we came out slow, lackadaisical. We knew we could take care of business tonight and that’s kind of the way we started, like we knew we expected to win instead of playing to go and take the win.”
Alec Slemmer scored three goals while Sam Durbin added two. Dylan Brady, Charlie Corthell, Brady Wolfe and Jordan Smith also added goals. Brady had a pair of assists as did Drew Miesle while Isaac Minor and Tim Mosser each had an assist.
“I think the big thing tonight was we knew what we were up against and they were, ‘Hey, we’re going to win, so let’s go through the motions and get his over with,’” Coressel said. “It got corrected in the second half. We played like we had during the first five games. We moved the ball really well, we distributed and finished really well. The kids fixed it. They knew.”
The victory raises Ross’ record to 6-1 overall and the Little Giants host St. John’s Tuesday at 5 p.m.
While Ross has come out of the gate slowly in last two games, Coressel isn’t worried the trend will continue against the Titans.
“I think we’ll be alright going forward, especially with St. John’s being the next team up,” he said. “If we’re not ready against St. John’s the game will be over within five minutes. I think we’ll be ready to go. They know it’s a huge game and we need to go out and compete.”
