Boys Golf Coach: Jim Scharer

Jim Scharer is entering his eighth season coaching the Little Giants boys golf team. In 2011 Ross won the district championship and Scharer was named Coach of the Year in Northwest Ohio. He has also served as varsity basketball coach at Lake (2008-2010) and Northwood (2013-15).

While he is retired as a business teacher at Ross High School, he continues to teach accounting at Davis College and works at the Oregon Recreation Department.

“I love to teach, I’m a teacher. And coaching is teaching,” Scharer said. “I get excited every single year. It’s one of those things, I believe, it keeps you young. I don’t want to go home and just sit in a chair.”
