FINDLAY – Two impressive streaks ended simultaneously Tuesday night.
For the first time in more than two years, the Little Giants boys swim team lost a dual meet. The girls’ winning streak, on the other hand, lasted seven years but that too came to an end against TRAC rival Findlay.
The Lady Giants were edged out 96-90, while the boys fell by a score of 116-69.
“All the swimmers who swam tonight swam for their teammates and swam their hearts out,” coach Phil Moran said. “As coaches, we strive to teach our student-athletes that the choices they make every day have consequences in and out of the pool. Tonight, was example of one of the consequences.”
Throughout their win streaks, both teams used their depth to overwhelm opponents, often taking two or three of an event’s top three places. Tuesday night, the Lady Giants had just six events in which they had two of the top three places. The boys teams had just two events with multiple top-three finishes and just four first-place finishes.
“As coaches, we will continue to teach our kids to care for not only for their family, but their teammates, friends and this community,” Moran said.
The swim teams are off until next Tuesday when they will host St. John’s and Notre Dame Academy at 5 p.m.
