TOLEDO – Call it a tough night at the office.

The Fremont Ross boys soccer team saw first-hand why St. John’s Jesuit is ranked No. 6 in the state in Division by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

The Titans topped the Little Giants by a 10-0 score Tuesday night.

“St. John’s is just that good,” Ross coach Alex Coressel said.

“They’re just kids that play against top-level competition all the time,” he said of St. John’s. “They’re just a very good team that has a legit chance to make it to the state finals.”

Despite the lopsided score, Coressel said he did see several positives to take from the match.

“There were points where we battled hard,” he said. “I think we saw a few guys step up and do some things that we know they’re able to do. I think Cesar Flores played a phenominal game on the back line, filling in for Micha (Olvera), who went down earlier this year.

“Midfield-wise, I think (Isaac) Minor played a very good game tonight, batted hard and gave us a couple opportunities. (Alec) Slemmer is the one who had out shot tonight.”

Ross is now 5-3 overall with a 2-2 league record. The Little Giants are off for a week until they host Clay Boys soccer vs. Clay on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
